It's a lighter, brighter me

Space Health & Fitness challenged the Bath Chronicle's Samantha Walker to get fit in just 8 weeks. Here's an extract from the resulting feature article, printed 17 July 2007:

Eat less and exercise more - most of us know the way to being healthy. But for many people keeping fit and trim can be hard to achieve...

So when Bear Flat gym Space Health & Fitness threw down the gauntlet, challenging me to improve my fitness in just eight weeks, I eagerly accepted.

An ankle injury has left me sidelined for months from my exercise of choice - running - and as a result I had piled on the pounds.

And while nutritionally I tend to eat well - perhaps too well - on a diet of mainly home-cooked food, by downfall is my sweet tooth. ...

My first session with instructor and gym owner Mark Lamputt saw me kitted out in a pair of shorts and subjected to the indignities of having my body fat measured with a pair of nifty callipers.

... Mark trained with me until I felt confident about doing the workout on my own. After just three weeks I noticed my body was changing, toning up and fitting in my clothes that little bit easier.

But it wasn't just my body that was a little brighter, my mood was lighter too, boosted by those exercise releasing endorphins or perhaps my taking time out from work and family and finally making time for myself. ... And now I have a butt that's just a little bit peachier - it's up by three quarters of an inch, proof says Mark that it's firmer and rounder.

Result.
